Alley confesses to having romantic desires toward Swayze privately
In a candid interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2012, actress Kirstie Alley revealed that she still maintains a friendship with the widow of her late co-star, Patrick Swayze, Lisa Niemi. Their relationship, however, was complicated by their marital status at the time.
Alley and Swayze first met on the set of the miniseries North and South in 1985. The two worked together for a year, and during that time, their relationship developed. Alley confessed that she almost ran off and married Swayze, but at the time, she was married to Parker Stevenson, and Swayze was married to Niemi.
Reflecting on their time together, Alley expressed regret that she did not have an affair with Swayze due to their marital commitments. She also spoke about the sparks that flew between her and Swayze on set, but it remains unclear if John Travolta, another leading man with whom Alley worked closely, was aware of these feelings.
Alley's feelings for Travolta were equally strong. If she was not married, she would have married him. In fact, she joked that she was attracted to Travolta because he had his own airplane. During the filming of "Look Who's Talking" and "Look Who's Talking Too", her interactions with Travolta were professional, and there are no public disclosures of unusual incidents in that context.
In a surprising revelation, Alley admitted to kissing two celebrities, but she did not have a consummated affair. The identities of these celebrities were none other than Swayze and Travolta.
Despite these past romantic connections, Alley has remained close friends with Niemi, Swayze's widow. More recently, Alley participated in Celebrity Big Brother U.K. on August 22.
Throughout her career, Alley has been open about her feelings for both Swayze and Travolta. Patrick Swayze tragically passed away from pancreatic cancer at the age of 57 in 2009. Alley's reminiscences serve as a poignant reminder of the strong bonds formed during the filming of iconic movies and miniseries.
